He may hold the cards NOW, but will Liverppol offer him more than 60K/week ?

Re: Liverpool want to sign Song in January!
We can offer all the ultimatums we like, but IF Reid's made his mind up to go to a particular club then he'll just sit it out 'til the end of the season and get a big fat signing on bonus.
He holds all the cards.

Can't be bothered to trawl through the thread. Is there any truth in this?

I thought Song was on loan anyway?

Arko 2:29 Fri Oct 10
Re: Liverpool want to sign Song in January!
Sorry for dropping that Reid comment in the Song thread, but I think the cases are similar insofar as West Ham are still a stepping stone for many players.

In a way this is a good sign as it will entice other players to join West Ham to better their careers.
Other players at Song's level may also join in the future, some just for a year, others might be persuaded to sign permanent deals eventually.

Still West Ham are not big enough yet to defend themselves properly against advances from the bigger clubs.
But now at least we seem to be in a position to bring in decent replacements.

And eventually we may reach a level where we no longer lose players to clubs like Arsenal or Liverpool, but only clubs like Chelsea, Man City, PSG or Juve.

NS

even then despite claims Fergie mantains the only reason that deal didn't happen was Dwight Yorke refusing to go to Boro

Reid and his agent do seem to be taking the piss a bit to be honest.

Agree with a deadline for him to say yes or no.

With a bit of luck,if Reid insists on this mad move to scouse land, he'll get his hub caps nicked and house broken into on a regular basis.

The thing is the genetics of it all is when the big boys come a calling... you go... only one I can think of that stayed put was PDC when Fergie was after him... otherwise... they go...

Re: Liverpool want to sign Song in January!
There should be a deadline preventing Reid and his agent from milking this situation any further.
60K/week offer, sign until the end of November or not.
If not the offer is off the table and the club can then plan without Reid, sell him for whatever we can get in January (maybe there'll be a bit of a bidding auction between Liverpool and Arsenal) and bring in one or two CB's in January (apparently Kouyate has started recommending suitable players from the Belgian league already) to replace Reid.

I cannot see this ending well for Reid, he will not make as many games at one of the bigger clubs as he does here at West Ham.
He may get slightly better wages, but I doubt he'll be happier elsewhere with his football...

I heard that Barca have asked for a straight swop Song for "the young Ibrahimovic" who is currently injured at West Ham... you know, the bloke with the pony tail?

Re: Liverpool want to sign Song in January!
A Player on Long Term Loan may not be recalled, except for a goalkeeper or where the player is to be transferred permanently by the club holding his registered contract.

So Barcelona could recall him in January if they were going to sell him.
..and to answer an earlier question, we could turn the loan into a permanent deal outside of the transfer window - obviously as long as all parties agreed.

I think I tweeted Gold to ask his view of signing Song.

I don't understand fucking Twitter - why does my "tweet" not appear in the list? Load of bollocks, I only understand forums like this one - know where I am!
